Let's not talk about PSL1GHT either
You can't possibly group every hacker who has worked or is working on the PS3 in the same group of people you are talking about. Plus, hacking consoles is covered in shades of gray and of course you can't expect peoples ethics to be the same.

However, I've known coders in many scenes along with this one and some of them refuse to release their exploits or go out of their way to contact Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft and tell them how to fix said mentioned exploits. These coders do not want piracy in any way shape or form when it comes to retail games.

As for PSL1GHT it's the same as most so-called "legal" SDK's for modern day consoles. All of them are written using stolen code - this is a fact and common knowledge that legal SDK's are in fact illegal in most countries.

I have PCSX2 on a 530 GTX. Not the best but not bad either. I also have Project 64 in hi res. Neither one are quite the same as playing the original. I'm playing Perfect Dark on my regular 64 right now. Looks way better on my PC but plays better on console.

Both emulators you've mentioned are far from complete. They have horrid compatibility issues which trigger many unwanted side effects to the point where the majority of the games cannot be played. I agree that emulators on a set-top box like a HTPC or XBOX1 is an ideal solution due to ease of use, using your HDTV, etc ...

Sadly, the emulators written for the PS3 are poorly coded, don't take advantage of the enhanced power of the PS3 released from CFW and have horrible interfaces. You're best off to use Linux for emulators on the PS3. While the XBOX1 can run at 720p and emulate up to the N64/PS1 it is a more ideal solution due to the fact PCSX2 sucks nuts and comes nowhere close to what older PS3's or Cobra can pull off.

Maybe converting CEX to DEX will encourage more developers to finish the emulation projects they started and look at the XBOX1 & Wii for inspiration on how to code a user friendly interface with plentiful options to choose from.

The DEX are better for development, no?

I have a BC CECHE01. I also have a CECHA01 but it's down with YLOD. I'm talking about using a function like Cobra to play backups on mine. I'm pretty sure Cobra isn't using an emulator but rather the PS3's hardware.

You are Comparing the PS2 "emulator" of a PS3 with all other emulators, which is quite unfair. The first PS3s had a PS2 built into them, the latter had a partial where the rest was spftwareemulated. Comparing an actual/partial PS2 to a complete softwareemulator and saying it sucks is a tad unfair. I think PCSX2 is doing nice although it couldnt run R&C nor BG:DA..
The PS3 has some quite nice emulators for the older machines, NES, SNES
