I have just installed the tools and hopefully the kernal will dl properly and I should be good to go.

well, with red ribbon I'm having a different problem.
It boots live but when i try to install it doesn't recognise any kind of partition. In the logs it does recognise the hdd though but also errors something about partition tables.
I've must have screwed something up.

Here's what I did,
1. Installed OFW 3.55
2. Installed CFW-OtherOS++
3. Restore PS3
4. Checked disk space from XMB and states half of it free (correct)
5. installed and ran the pkgs from the metldrpwn wiki.

?!
Anyway I'm going to pause this till when I get back.
