TurboGrafx-16 emulator and Castlevania Rondo of Blood not working

Hi guys

I am trying to run Castlevania Rondo of Blood on my ps3 using Mednafen PCE Retroarch 0.9.8.4 (standalone core).

I have placed the syscard3.pce file in the game folder where the CUE file is (have tried running it from both external and internal hdd).

Once I try to load the CUE file from within the emulator, I get a black screen and then boot back to xmb?

CFW: Rogero 4.30 v2.05

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

if I'm not mistaken, you need the super cd-rom system rom to play cd games.

Thank you for help!

This is the version of Rondo of Blood that I got

Is this the wrong one?

If so, would you mind telling me via PM or here, where to find a good version of this title, and what is the best and easiest way to have this running on ps3?

Thanks, I have deleted the links...

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

When I googled for turbografx bios files, I found two versions, Japanese and US, not sure which one to use, I tried both though, nothing worked.

I renamed them both to syscard3.pce, and tried using them, but no go.

I think the ISO that you posted works fine

As soon as I get home, I'll try to run the game and give you the details

Thanks very much!

From the emulator that I am using, I can only run the CUE file, the ISO is in the folder as well, but I cant run it from within mednafen. As you will see from the ISO, it has got many files...audio, iso, cue...etc

This is how mednafen directory looks like on my console
/dev_hdd0/game/MPCERTR00/USRDIR/cores/roms

Where is the syscard3.pce file actually suppose to go, somewhere inside the ps3 emulator directory, or inside the game folder (which is currently on my external hdd)?

Going to bed now, hopefully I can get this working somehow tomorrow.

I used PCengine 1.30 to play it on my ps3.
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=36708 It works great, Full-speed and sound. Just follow the set up.

To quote: PCE.emu is a PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 emulator written in C++ for Android, iOS, WebOS and PS3. It uses the emulation backend from Mednafen and is built on top of the Imagine engine. The source is released under the GPLv3 license.

Main Features:

Accurate emulation and high compatibility rate (Note: Data swapped TG16 roms are not supported, see known issues below for a fix if you're getting a black screen on load)
Backup memory and save state support, auto-save and ten manual slots for save states
Supports ROM-based games in .pce and .sgx formats, optionally in .zip files
CD emulation via loading CUE or TOC+BIN files (select a system card rom in the options, for versions <= 1.3.0: place syscard.pce in same directory as CUE file)

About Save Games:

A standard .sav file is created for games using internal battery backup memory
Save states are named .ncq for the auto-save slot, and .ncX where X is the slot number for manual saves.

Performance Notes (as of version 1.3.0):

PS3: 60fps with hucards & CDs.

PS3 Controls

D-pad : navigate menus (Up & Down), Left to go up a directory in file picker, Right to select *highlighted entry
Cross : confirm/select menu entry, Button I
Circle : cancel menu entry/go back, Button II
Select : Select
Start: Run
L2 : open/dismiss menu
R2 : Fast-forward

Currently known issues/bugs:

No international character support in gui
Not really a bug, but when running on a case-sensitive file system make sure your CUE file *specifies references in the same case as on the file system.
PS3: only 1 controller is supported
PS3: loading a CUE file with external audio tracks causes the system to lock up
PS3: sound is not synced properly, causes slight distortion in the audio

PCE Emu Version 1.4.0 Changelog:

Note: The config file format has changed and all options should reset automatically, in case of issues delete the config file manually
Recent Games list added to the main menu, stores the last 10 games played.
On-screen fast forward hot-spot now acts as an on/off toggle
Android: Vibration support when using touch controls, available under Options -> On-screen Controls
iOS: Minimize Bluetooth input latency and make BTstack an optional package, you'll be prompted to install it the first time you start a Bluetooth scan
iOS: Fixed a possible Wiimote detection issue
iOS: Fixed app start-up in portrait mode on iPad and add better default settings
SNES: Mouse support
MD: Master System support
MD: SVP support for Virtua Racing (Note: you need a very fast device for this)
PCE: Updated PS3 port with multi-controller support and fixes for external audio tracks on CD games

PCE Emu Version 1.3.30 Changelog:

Better error handling and messages when a saving a state fails
Configurable Menu and Fast-forward hot-spots for the touch screen (set under On-screen Config)
Android: Updated Bluetooth event processing system to minimize latency caused by buffered events
PCE: Optimizations to CD reading code

Hey, thanks for this.

I have tried this and it works, so syscard file and iso are good.

I would still however like to find out how to get this working on mednafen retroarch, as it has got superior filters and other options.

I have a feeling its something to do with where I am placing the syscard file, or maybe how some files are named?

If someone who is using retroarch mednafen could please say where they have put the syscard file, that would be great?

Thanks all!

I tested the game using Mednafen Retroarch core and it worked fine, you can try using the same method:

1 - Find the ISO+CUE version (cd audio will not work with wav/mp3+iso) and rename the ISO/CUE to something simple (ie dracx.iso and dracx.cue). Edit the CUE and change the ISO name to match
2 - Rename your System Card3 to syscard3.pce (case sensitive) and place the cue/bin in the same folder
3 - Run Retroarch, select the pce core, Press Select , R1 (2 or 3 times) and point the "System Directory" to the syscard / iso+cue folder
4 - Select and Run the CUE

The game works fine (with cd-music) . The first time I ran the game the controls went crazy, but pressing L2 fixed the problem
