I have always promoted open information sharing, always. This is the very reason I took over the wiki and re-created a public git repository.
That being said, Sometimes private groups are just plain necessary to get work done. Sometimes they need to keep secrets until they can unlock the full potential of them. Sometimes they just need to filter out the people who are a hindrance, and the people who are of value. Sometimes, just sometimes, people don't need to spoonfeed you. Everyone already knew the CEX > DEX was possible, Everyone already knew it relied on modification of the EID, Everyone already knew the EID was encrypted with the EID root key. Some people got together and bothered to put some work into figuring it out, and decided to share it with a few others that could make some proper use of it. It angers me to see that people think this is some sort of crime against humanity. Now you people are angry because someone spoonfed you even more but left it up to you to find the keys? You are angry because he didn't share any keys? The exact same sort of action that got geohot into a legal battle with Sony? Go and get ****ed, you people don't deserve developers as dedicated as the ones in this scene. Anyone who ever showed any respectable amount of talent was invited, and shown such secrets. Unfortunately when Sony blocks this, Not even the people who have the ability to unlock its full potential can use it.

My thoughts exactly but the wiki had misinformation in certain pages. I mean private things are fine and no one has to share anything, but intentionally hindering progress is another thing. I mean ok it got leaked and Sony will employ countermeasures and this sucks for everyone including me, but they shouldn't lie about a what a converted can do.

Oh BTW 2 - 'you have always promoted information sharing' EXCEPT 'and here comes the whole clause of bull**** excuses'. Yeah right. Herp derp. Go stroke your dick some more about how 'open' you are. Go and get ****ed yourself and ram that wiki up your ass.
Notice - I could do this if I wanted to - a guy like Themaister could do it if we wanted to - but guess what - we don't give a **** - we care zero about fighting a 'losing battle' against hardware manufacturers at this point because they've got you fair and squarely beaten - Id' rather be involved in plain software development instead and doing a good job at that instead. The algo's they rely on now are 'undefeatable' ,and you know this yourself - that's why you rely on Johnny One-notes like some DEX exploit and hoard it like no tomorrow - because you know that after this, there is no more. Another example of the kind of 'emptyhandedness' of you 'inhumanly talented hackers' would be the VHBL exploit in the 'PS3 scene #2' - Vita. Last edited by Squarepusher2; 07-13-2012 at 01:28 AM. |

There is absolutely no deliberate misinformation on the wiki whatsoever. euss spends a large portion of his time checking and verifying every single piece of information on the wiki to be as correct as possible. Please point out the apparent misinformation.

I meant the eeid page, which is now fixed. I am not bashing the wiki or you and certainly not euss but those who go on the wiki to make small yet destructive commits.

And yes, for exactly that reason I feel glad this stuff has gotten out - no more free rides for you lot - the whole crew can go get ****ed with your illusions about any 'entitlements' and no more 'easy money' to be made- this stuff doesn't belong to you, and in the end you're no better than the average 'warez thief' around because all of this stuff is copyrighted Sony in the end. BTW 2 - 'reversing' stuff with IDA Pro is not 'legal reverse engineering' - and PSL1GHT is not 'clean reverse engineering' either - or you mean to tell me that when I can get by just making one simple header file redefining some SDK functions to have my project compile with either the PS3 SDK or PSL1GHT, I'm looking at a cleanly reversed SDK here? Give me a break here.

@defyboy
. The problem is not that it was secret because we alreafy knew some people were in the know but rather the fact that since its leak the hard feelings towards the fact that we now know.
Unless a person figured it out all on his own he had no more right than the rest of us to have the info and should stfu complaining about its release

If someone did indeed figure this out on their own, then good on them, they also decided to share, that's cool. But why bash this group of developers who worked damn hard to figure it out for themselves. P.S. Anyone who still thinks they can ***** about the group not releasing anything, I didn't hear anyone complain when PSN access was re-enabled.
