sorry for the confusion, if u do the method of placing the cfw on a FAT32 usb stick and updating through the settings menu or through service mode then youl be fine. u were indeed very lucky in getting a 3.50 console

Dullar92, just to start you off.

You need the following,

Kmeaw PUP - this is the 3.55 that is modified to allow backups to play you put this is on a USB stick.
Like so X./ PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
X being the USB stick formatted to FAT32. PS3 being the name of the folder and in this folder you have another folder called UPDATE and in that UPDATE folder you have the kmeaw Update renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP
Then just update via xmb selecting update via storage device, be careful do not select internet update just in case ps3 is connected to net.
Then you will need BDEMU2.PKG and multiman PKG. which you install after kmeaw is installed.
Any questions then ask but all the info you need is on the forum, good luck.

I presumed he could figure it out (whether he needed a flasher or just the KMEAW pup) with the info I gave him and clicking on THE GIANT BANNER AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE

That's awesome, my major concerns were the model number difficulties and firmware numbers, what the restrictions were and what not but thanks everybody for clearing that up.

Im pretty sure Ill be able to handle the usb part of the jailbreak if anything I woulndnt know what CFW to use I was interested in the Rebug one?

If you're still on 3.50, update to 3.55 OFW (but not any higher!) before moving to 3.55 CFW, just to be safe! Moving from one 3.55CFW to another 3.55CFW is grand though.

You can get Rebug 3.55.2 from rebug.me but Kmeaw does everything you'd need.

What i assumed was that if your PS3 model was jailbreakable it didnt matter if your firmware was over 3.55
And you could downgrade via USB...
