Warning
WARNING! - This step will re-flash the NAND DEX dump, make sure everything went right, and that the dump size is 256MB. If you did something wrong I am not responsible!

My question is that i have the dump file but it 256KB (262*144 byte) this file should be 256MB??? So it is weird for me.

Exact file size for NAND Dump should be 256 MB (268,435,456 bytes) when you right click properties. Ignore windows explorer report.

Possible NAND DEX-TO-CEX Guide. [NOT Verified byCaptainCPS-X]

I am trying go back to CEX to get the NAND Dump made from Latest MM. At the moment I have trying to figure out a safe method before I perform it. Please comment about this guide. DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE!!. CaptainCPS-X Do NOT VERIFY THIS.

Click here to see full text
1. With Rogero 3.55 DEX CFW with (Peek-Poke) has starting Firmware

2. Install FactoryServiceMode.pkg (For DEX) Not FactoryServiceMode.gnpdrm.pkg(CEX)

3. A file was automatically created specifically for DEX to get out of FSM, called "Lv2diag_exit.self"

4. Copy NAND flash dump "Backuprflash.bin" to your USB device and renamed it to "rflash.bin"

5. Copy files From STEP 11 of Main Guide "JaiCrab Preloader Advance v3.1" files (Lv2diag.self, advance.cfg) to restore "rflash.bin" to NAND.

6. Connected the USB device to PS3 and turned it On and wait until it completely turn off, this could take a few minutes

7. Connected the USB device to PC and Copy a CFW CEX Firmware (Example : Rebug 3.55.2)

8. Connected the USB device to PS3 and turned On (Should be still in FSM mode

9. Do a system update via XMB and PS3 should reboot and back to XMB. <-- Can the system update be from XMB or Recovery Menu??

10. Connected the USB device to PC and deleted "JaiCrab Preloader Advance" files (Lv2diag.self, advance.cfg)

11. Renamed the "Lv2diag_exit.self" to "Lv2diag.self" to exit factory mode.

12 Connected the USB device to PS3 and turned it ON.

13. PS3 should be out of FSM.

14. Now you are on CEX.

Hello @CaptainCPS-X ,

Please review and verify the steps.

Thank you.

EDIT : There is much safer method of DEX to CEX for NAND Coming soon. Don't follow this!!

Cant you just use the converter pups to get back to CEX? I havent tested them, and I dont have a NAND console to test either:

Code:
PS3 DEX to CEX Switcher PUP's: Proudly presenting these special pups here for DEX users... got a DEX but can't get tools to use the thing? For example newer BD emu tools and such. Well don't fret. I included a set of firmwares here that will take away the pain. Once you run the first PUP it will convert your box to a "retail" box. you can then install Rebug, Kmeaw etc etc. If you ever want to go back to DEX (Debug) then just run the second PUP that came with it and viola back to Debug. Also this all only works on 3.55. kthnxbai.

Greetz: Mathieulh TheFallen93 Xenon7 CMX DeathClutch KiwiDoggeh Sonic-Iso K3rn3l Huegel Carly360 Xorloser barubary redline m0md4d and anyone else I missed.

PS3 4.20 DEX Downgrader: For those running DEX higher then v3.55, you might also need this special downgrade DEX pup to re-enable the feature on your converted DEX machine to go back to any lower version of firmware file. It only needs to be run once, and then you can install the normal 3.55 DEX PUP afterwards.

Description: This file enables you to downgrade again from 4.20 DEX to a lower firmware version.

Usage:

1. Create a PS3 folder on a FAT32 formatted USB stick
2. In that folder create a "UPDATE" folder
3. Copy this PUP inside that "UPDATE" folder
4. Insert the USB stick in your PS3
5. Go to system and update your PS3 through "Update via Storage Media"

No you can't, PS3 DEX to CEX Switcher PUPs are not true switching. They just swaps the core os and it does not restore blu-ray playback. The best true switching at the moment is done with latest multiman and you have to have a NAND dump generated from MM while in CEX mode.

Those who followed CaptainCPS-X main guide did not foresee latest MM features. You have to go back to CEX to get it.

There are many features you can't achieve in DEX CFW. It is only possible in CEX CFW. And of-course, there are some features that can be only done in DEX and not CEX.

You need both and a safe CEX<->DEX switching solution is the only way.
