Slow PSN Downloads?

I have a 20mb cable connection and i usually get download speeds just under 2mb/s with computers that are in the same place as it with a good adapter, i'm running wireless on the ps3 which says it has got 100% signal strength to my router and it took 5 hours to download burnout, but i do not get high pings whilst gaming. Will this be something to do with being on f/w 2.20? because its really slow, if so can i format the drive and will it go back to the orginal firmwire and fix the prob?

thx

well i was downloading warhawk and whilst it was downloading i decided to play cod4 so i left it in the download manager at exactly 12%

I went playing cod4 ONLINE for about 30-40 mins came back and it was at 13% !!! then every 5 seconds it went up a percentage I'm sure its too todo with playing online games

Do a speed test on PC and PS3 to see what is causing issues, most likely if wireless, you have a crappy router. I recommend Belkin Pre-N for long range or WRT54G router.

where did you get the idea of me having a crappy router
i have a WRT54GS w/ speed booster and like i said in my first post i've had my computer in the same position with a wireless adapter getting speeds just under 2mb/s games do not lag or have high ping either.

Which speed test do you recommend?

Any is fine.

What is the NAT type of your PS3 by the way? If you don't know how to find this, there is a tutorial on forums to show you how (use search).

If it is NAT type 3, you should follow tutorials on forums to convert it to NAT type 2 - thus the reason of your PS3 "lag".

I also had slower speeds until I changed the DNS and did some port forwarding and then it greatly increased my speed. Unfortunately I'm an American that is living in Thailand so I have to use the ISPs that are located here and they all suck. I can only get a 2mbps line here and the maximum speed I can download at is around 220kbps...

I have found that download speed drops when you play game that require more power of your machine like COD4 / Burnout etc... If you play nite game like Super Rub Duck then your download speed woundn't drop that much.
