Project Unity a Console to rule them all with 20 Systems built in

[Bacteria] retro console modder extraordinaire, is back at it with a rather massive project. “Unity”(originally Dubbed Alpha Omega), this will be a single unit that can play games from 20 different console systems. It will run from one power supply, have one video output, and strangely enough, one controller.

Chris Downing was nice enough to tip us off to a video of the Unity controller in action. The controller isn’t quite as bulky as we would have assumed with the extensive list of consoles it has to support, but that could be, in part, due to the fact that you actually swap out the brains for the controller for each system’s compatibility.

Unless we missed something in the extensive thread, the following game systems have already been assimilated:

Sega SMS – done, not added into system yet
Nintendo NES – done, not added into system yet
Mattel Intellivision
Nintendo GameCube (and GBA via GBA Player)
Amiga CD32
Philips CD-i
Playstation 2 (also plays Playstation 1 games)

with these remaining on the list:

SNK NeoGeo
Sega MegaDrive
Amstrad GX4000
Nintendo 64
Sega Saturn
Sega DreamCast
ColecoVision
Nintendo SNES
NEC TurboGrafx/PC Engine
Atari 7800 (also plays Atari 2600 games)
Atari Jaguar

I would think saturn or n64 would be the hardest to add. Looks freaking awesome. Some modders (ben comes to mind) are just brilliant.
Personally, i think the dualshock is one of the best controllers when it comes to other console controller set ups. When i used emu's on the pc, i hooked the ds3 up through bluetooth and the setup was always great for me. I never really had much trouble thinking up control schemes and they all felt comfortable.
I just watched the first minute or so of the video so it doesn't surprise me the controller looked similar to a dual shock, it just needs an analog add-on but maybe it shows that further in the video.
i just lost the game :/
tl;dnr AMAZING!

That looks pretty awesome, but wouldn't be easier to build a mini computer and emulate all those consoles? I know all those play rather well on pc, not sure about ps2.

Easier, but not cooler :P
Plus, this isn't emulation by the looks of it, you get true console compatibility.

No it is not emulation. He is combining all the systems so that it does have full system compatibility.
