For those guys who think that the cecha01 is just a noisy 60gb console that overheats, you guys are wrong.! i just learnt the cecha01 is the best ever made. It can play PS2 games with full hardware, has 2 extra USB ports, card readers and with that chrome finish it just looks amazing.

In fact, that PS3 is quite possibly the best console ever made when you take into account the libraries of the PS1, PS2 and PS3 and combine them into one sexy box with all the extras.

A CECHA01 PS3 and a Cobra dongle running mmCM is heavenly not only for playing backups but for having EVERYTHING region-free.! that's awesome!

About that comment. i have a cecha01 and i never had problems with it.. at first when the ps3 came out. it was said to have no problems when the xbox360 had a lot.. only in the later days. problems with the ps3 starts rising. the slim will probably have it days to. some people do not care with their consoles

Exactly. I've only ever had a YLOD on one of my consoles once and it wasn't because it overheated......

I got a CECHA01 from fleabay. It was missing a blu ray drive, didn't even have the logic board. But I got it for $20.

I downgraded it with Progskeet sodlerless bundle and married a blu ray drive to it. I also changed the power supply with one from a CECHG01.

So now I am debating on converting it to DEX.

I have wanted this model for sometime. I love it so far.
Hopefully the cooler psu, I installed and the fresh thermal compound, will keep it alive for a long time.
It does run very quiet. Almost as quiet as my 2 slims.
It is a great machine.

Same here - or a NOR-based fatty-watty PS3 (harder to look out for and find than a slim), especially for recovery purposes.

Any particular reasons? I also just aquired an CECHA01 but i'm keeping my slim too.
