I WANNA PLAY DA GAMES.

What I've done so far
  • Got PS3 with like 1.something firmware
  • Updated it to 3.55 with OFW
  • Jailbroke with Kmeaw's 3.55 CFW
  • Installed Gaia Manager and Multiman

From there.. i'm herp derping.

What i simply wish is to do is just download games off the internet, put it on my HDD, and play it with multiman. Is it not that simple?

Bunch of questions I would like answered

What is a PKG file? I downloaded it and installed it on the XMB and it worked free full game.

Am i supposed to download an ISO or a file folder to put on my HDD? I downloaded a game supposedly supposed to work on Kmeaws 3.55 but when i extracted it was a file folder with three folders and this other file inside. PS3_CONTENT, PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, and PS3_DISC.SFB

Where do i put my games? Inside a folder named something or just the root of my external HDD?

For every game do i have to have a retail PS3 game disc inside to play off HDD? I can just buy Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for like 10 dollhairs.

I heard i should get True Blue dongle cause it has higher compatibility for games and can play the newest retail games like DBZ Ult Tenkaichi. Is it worth it?

I formatted my 1.5TB Seagate HDD to FAT32 and now i can't add any files over 4GB. Any way to fix that?

Thats about all my questions. If you can help this pathetic noob then he would really appreciate it.

Multiman is a backup manager and as such its intent is to backup your purchased game. Downloading games off of the internet is piracy and this site has an active stance against it..........moreover its even against the rules to discuss it.

The PKG extension is the format that all content other than firmware pups are put onto the PS3 this includes games from Sony as well as user created content like emulators.

4+gig files can sometimes be split, but for best results copy games like this to your internal hdd.

Currently its very difficult to distinguish between an official TrueBlue distributor or a clone distributor and clones have been known to delete content from your hdd because the TrueBlue Devs intentionally inserted malitious code.............therefore my advice is to stay away from TrueBlue entirely.

Not all games require there be a disk in the drive, but many do.

1. Yes it is that simple

What is a PKG file? I downloaded it and installed it on the XMB and it worked free full game.
2. A PKG File is a file format used by the ps3 to install (PSN GAMES, HOMEBREW, PROGRAMS etc) Let's just say it is a executable file that holds data that can be installed on PS3

3. a ps3 can't play ISO's, but it would be possible for multiman to make your game an ISO so that it would be easy to have all those data and maps as 1 file. Yes a backup game does look like that it contains folder with it's data (you are supposed to put all those PS3_CONTENT, PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, and PS3_DISC.SFB in a folder with the name of it's game)

Where do i put my games? Inside a folder named something or just the root of my external HDD?
4. I don't know about this. Just put it in a folder named GAMES on the root of your external HDD

For every game do i have to have a retail PS3 game disc inside to play off HDD? I can just buy Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for like 10 dollhairs.
5. No it's also possible to play a game without a disc inside, but not all games support that. So if i was you i would buy a cheap disc.

I heard i should get True Blue dongle cause it has higher compatibility for games and can play the newest retail games like DBZ Ult Tenkaichi. Is it worth it?
6. Don't buy this piece of ****, it really isn't worth the money. But if you can't wait for someone to crack it you can go ahead and buy it.

I formatted my 1.5TB Seagate HDD to FAT32 and now i can't add any files over 4GB. Any way to fix that?
7. Only a NTFS HDD can write files over 4 GB but on the other side a ps3 can't read a NTFS HDD. (Multiman can split those 4GB+ files for you)
