I want to learn more about the technical aspect of PS3, so I have few questions and clarification on the BD remarry process.

Example : I want to replace the Blu-ray Drive from FAT PS3 (A) with a Blu-ray Drive from FAT PS3 (B). Both are on 3.55 CEX CFW.

Using the files from "remarry-3.55.rar":

Code:
http://ps3devwiki.com/files/lv2diag/remarry/
Step 1. Open both PS3 and Replace A with B
Step 2. Make sure you don´t have any CD/DVD/BD on the drive
Step 3. Put remarry files on a blank USB stick
Step 4. Put in the service mode JIG/dongle and get into factory service mode. (With FactoryServiceMode Tool v0.2 pkg, I don't need a JIG/dongle anymore right? So Step 3 and 4 uses the same USB stick?)
Step 5. Put the created USB stick into port 0 (closest to the reader) and run.
Step 6. After you run the initial remarry process, do not take it out of factory service mode. (Means, Don't rename the Lv2diag_exit.self to Lv2diag.self yet?)
Step 7. Put a BD movie disc in and run it on the PS3. (This restores your DRL files!)
Step 8. Take it out of factory service mode. (Rename the Lv2diag_exit.self to Lv2diag.self)
Step 9. Blu-ray Drive should be working and should be able to play BD Movies.

Please correct my steps If I am wrong.
Thank you.

Yes. You are correct with the steps. ps3devwiki is great isn't it.

You don't always have to remarry when changing drives though.

Take the logic board off the drive from PS3 (A).
Put that logic board on the drive from PS3 (B).
Now put the drive from PS3 (B), [which has married logic board from PS3 (A)], into PS3 (A).

And bingo! You have replaced the drive without having to do the remarry process.

Of course if the logic board is the problem, then go with remarrying a new 1.

Thank you for the information. PS3 is indeed a complex console with layers and layers of securities.
