Yes, but you must marry the logic board.

Read up HERE for how to marry the logic board. The safest bet is to get the same model you had before, but just make sure it's from a fat model as you can use them but not slim ones.

You'll need the power cable and ribbon (data) cable to connect to the motherboard too (try haggle them into the deal with the seller). Also, once you've connected it up you have to insulate it or you'll damage it and need another replacement. I covered mine in cardboard and taped it in place..

Sounds you are the one that does not know what you are talking about.

I don't know about you, but I have never gotten any homebrew to work without a logic board married to the motherboard and connected.

Sure you can install a firmware like Rogero, that has the BD check removed. But it would be useless if you can't play any homebrew.

check the game settings in multiman and make sure that the game disk setting is not selected otherwise it'll always ask for a game disk in order to start the game.

hello

I have gone in circles for a while and now I finally understand that I need to remarry the blu ray drive to get any cfw to work with homebrew, but the remarry procedure involves a dongle/jig which I cannot obtain and the latest
remarry package which includes a pup file still needs homebrew to work.
I do not think the ps3 i obtained from ebay has the original bd installed.
Apart from going to a console shop have I any other option.
