Maybe E3 couldn't create CFW using only these keys so they released it to public where other devs can do something about it and share a method how to do it (they calculated it will take about 1 to 2 months ;p). Then E3 could do the same but with 4.20 keys (which they already have of course...) and create some sort of "system" that will allow access to this newest CFW with some conditions (having e3 flasher for example).

I wonder why lot of people have to create theories and come to conclusions based on those theories. Is not like it will change anything, however it can and has created unnecessary confusion and conflicts many times.

Why not wait for reality to take place?

Sorry to go off topic, but what is so great about the CECHA01 PS3 model besides the card reader, @TizzyT ? That's the model of my PS3, it's why I'm asking.

It might not be that important to you if you prefer a longer lasting console over a fully featured one. I like it because its the one model where everything is available and not taken out by hardware revisions. One of those things to mention is the card reader which I did personally use and the PS2 game compatibility. Also it had 4 USB ports so yeah the reason why I like it is because it is the most fully featured console. Of course iirc there is also an 80 GB that's similar with all features too but I don't know the model.

I have the 80 gig model. It's the CECHE01. I like it better because my CECHA01 went down with YLOD and my CECHH01 was way too loud. The 80 Gig was originally released as the MGS4 Package. The CECHA01 uses the PS2's CPU while the CECHE01 uses partial emulation so the CECHA01 has just marginally better backwards compatibility.

bootldr and metldr might be the problem of downgrading with their latest patches, though it is intriguing to see if dumping the eid key is possible and then converting to dex and test new downgrades on dex firmwares.
But I guess the time consuming of writing new drivers to lower fws probably may not be worth it.
This is also why I think E3 was/is planning to make a mfw based on 3.60-3.73 ,probably 3.66 for minimal fw with full drivers support, to increase their flasher sales.
