But I guess the time consuming of writing new drivers to lower fws probably may not be worth it.
This is also why I think E3 was/is planning to make a mfw based on 3.60-3.73 ,probably 3.66 for minimal fw with full drivers support, to increase their flasher sales.
I am confused as to what you mean by "drivers", could you explain? Maybe sprx (which I think of more as plugins).

Nah no way bro...I have compared A LOT of PS2 games running on both systems and there are a lot of glitches, framerate issues, texture problems, animation problems etc without the Emotion Engine chip.

Tekken Tag Tournament is a great example:

60gb: 60fps
80gb: 10fps (no lie)...

There is a huge difference in quality with many games.

Or...have a CECHA00/01 PS3 + a Cobra dongle and enjoy PS1, PS2, PS3 and even some PSP games all in upscaled HD, region-free and selectable all simply from a HDD. Add this with the card-readers, a Blu-Ray player, an all-round media player including SACD support, wireless DualShock 3 connectivity and an exterior which looks luxuriously sexy and amazing even to this day included all in one device.

CECHA00/01 (with Cobra) > ALL.

Sorry but, your statement is not completely accurate. CobraUSB has features that has not been implemented yet by anyone else, so the basic requirement to make something obsolete has not been met in this specific dongle case, for example (to name a 'few' features):

- Load PS1 / PS2 / PS3 / PSP (UMD) disc images (ISO) backups locally, externally or through network share (WiFi / Wired).
- Load 'Burned' PS1 / PS2 / PS3 discs from the XMB without loading any application to do so, just put the burned disc, and voila.

So basically, when those main features from Cobra are implemented in a open / free manner by someone else, then it will become obsolete.

In other hand, True Blue + Clones are obsolete xD.

EDIT: Oh and about your statement about "PS2 is not about being HD gfx", that is just personal perspective, is like saying this: "Women are not all about Big Boobs and Perfect Curves", if you're satisfied with SD and not HD, then good for you .

EDIT2: No offense to women xD, LOL, I was just using that as analogy.

PS: Don't get me wrong tho', I am not defending Cobra or any other dongle maker, I am just stating some valid points. I wish for a open PS3 scene with every advancement available to all for free, as it should be.

SeeYa!
