60 GB Jap PS3

I heard they have different layout of the hard ware in it, I was thinking of buying a Blu Ray drive to fix it (the laser doesnt work) Is there only special things I have to watch out for? Like what version of the Blu Ray Drive and possibly different way to disassemble them (because of the SD card and other memory card slots and possibly other hardware changes)
