I was wanting to upgrade my PS3 external HDD to a 500GB .. I formatted the HDD to FAT32 and installed it in the PS3 but when i turn it on the power light turns green for about 6 seconds the the PS3 turns itself off. I put the original one back in and it powers up fine. I took 500gb HDD and put it in enclosure and it works fine when i use it with my computer. It even works fine on PS3 when I plug it in USB port???? What's going on?? Has anyone had this happen to them??? Thanks in advanced!!!

there is no need to format it beforehand, let the ps3 do it
try removing all partitions in windows and installing it into the console
try recovery mode on the ps3 too when its installed
make sure the hdd is pushed into the ps3 well enough

OK i tried what you said and still does the same thing. I install HDD and when I turn on PS3 the green light turns on the it starts to flash yellow then it the red light starts flashing???? I checked the HDD on pc and it works fine. Im completely daffeld??

The HDD is 2,5 5400 rpm ? if is not they dont see ps3 so check and tell us
