Hi guys,
I need to decide whether I'm buying an xbox360 or a PS3. I really like the PS3 a lot more, but before I buy it I need to make sure it will play the games I want, otherwise I would choose the xbox. My question is, can the PS3 with 3.55 CFW read new games ? And should it be able to play the upcoming games (Far Cry 3, Assassin's Creed 3, NFS MW, MoH, Watch Dogs, Tomb Raider...) ? I think these games require a firmware version higher than 3.55, so should there be a way to play them ? Is it safe enough to say that the jailbreak PS3 WILL PLAY these backups ?

@hccompany These games won't work on 3.55 cfw.It might work if you have the tb dongle and an eboot fix is released.If you don't have the dongle please don't buy it.Don't support those *******s,but well it's up to you.

if you buy a new ps3 you know it needs to be downgraded right? , or are you planning to buy an used one with 3.55 allready on it.

to play the newer games you need or a dongle like *cough* true blue *cough* , or convert your ps3 to dex, or just wait it out since the ps3 scene is moving forward again.

anyway since you are new to the ps3, cex to dex dousnt seem an option to me , and downgrading needs hardware i think.

Yeah if i'm buying one I'm buying a new but old one (I mean made some years ago but never used... I can find one in my country )
I don't think I can get a dongle like True Blue here, so that's not an option
Will Cex to Dex conversion make it run these games ? Because I can hand it over to a professional guy that could convert it. So will it make them work if it's converted to DEX ? How's that ?

i don't have a dex ps3 myself, but you can play all the latest games as far as i know.
you can only have one game at a time (i think), and they need some editing on the pc for them to work.

lol, i don't know if i'm right , because i only did a little reading on the cex to dex thing.
personally it's not for me, i'm staying on 3.55 at the moment, i would probably brick my ps3 in trying to convert it.

I think with PS3GEN you can have 4 backups at once on one USB hdd.

I'm sticking to KMEAW. 3.55 is all you need. Eventually we will have it all (4.xx keys etc) I can wait.

Alright, one more question. I don't know why you guys hate True Blue here lol, but anyway if I get my hands on one will it make the PS3 run those games ? One game installed at a time or as many as the HDD takes ? How much does it cost in your country (to figure out how much it is here IF available)

With TB you can have as many as you can fit, and they work with TB patches, so if a game has a patch, you can play it... With DEX: 4 games at once, any game with an update.

TB is re-DRM'd bullsh!t, thats why we don't like it. It can be done for free: look at E3's proof eboots.

It seems like DEX is a better option since I'm not really sure about the availability of true blue here. So with DEX will it run these games (far cry3, ac3, MoH...) ? Or I need to wait for updates ? I mean are you sure that if I get a PS3 and get it converted to DEX I can play those games ? (I can live with 4 games at once)

for newer games you also need to update the dex firmware, but i think if you do it right you can go back to 3.55 (downgrade without dongle).

true blue dongle was sold overhere for 60 euro.

personally i would just have 3.55 kmeaw installed and wait what happens, enough games to play , nothing wrong with older games.

on second thought , there was some interresting news a few days ago :
"Team E3 – All PS3 game EBOOTS to be released for free and keys to be released. No dongle required."

if this is true then you don't need to go to dex
