even with the ck3 pack you need to grab the key in the same way and flash using jungleflasher etc

the ck3 is just a product to simplify the whole process by providing power to the drive etc but i just used the 360 for power and pc for sata connection

it also depends on the model of drive you want to flash for the method.
some need probes, some dont, some need new pcb's

there are a few revisions of hitachii
revisions include: 46DH, 47DG, 47DJ, 59DJ ,78FK, 79FL
you need to know which

look on the sticker

once you know that, you should follow the instructions in the jungleflasher documentation AFAIK (its been a couple years since i did a drive)

it is rom ver = 79fl, am i right in saying regarding the ck3 that apart from the probe all the rest is just to power the drive? there is a guy on youtube called GILLDADDY im wondering if his method would work, it a homemade probe with a power switch, is that all the ck3 is?

the CK3 is a connectivity kit
it powers the drive for you and simplifies things by adding eject button etc. the probe is just an extra to it

you can do without the ck3 but need to power the drive using the 360 and run sata from drive to pc

for the 79 i believe you dont need any probe so as long as you have a compatible sata chipset you are good to go ( use an unlock disc for 79 )

read through the documentation for your model/revision
