Unhappy Anyone bought a reballed RSX chip? Heatgun

Hey guys,
For starters, I've got this CECHA01 60, that i got from a pawn shop. It was taken apart before, in fact it was RLOD when I got it, as is for $50. The ROM drive connection on the board was broken so I had to rig that with a piece of plastic to hold the ribbon in. The screw holes on the heat sink were stripped out for the RSX chip and so I retapped it and used regular old screws, with some makeshift spacers to get the depth about right. I heatgunned it and it has worked for 13 months or so, I rarely used it though, mostly to play Blurays.

Well, now it's showing a Green light, the video blips and goes black again, and every now and then I may or may not hear the startup sound.

I tried to heatgun it again and no change.

So now I am thinking about buying a reballed chip and putting it on the board myself, again using a heatgun.

My decision to do this is because, well, who out there would reball this thing for me after it's been through all of that?

So has anyone successfully taken the RSX chip off of the board and then reinstalled a new one with a heatgun? I know the outlook is grim, just wanting to get some suggestions.

It is not possible to replace the rsx with a heatgun,as the heat will fry the other components near the rsx, people that reball use special equipment designed to apply heat to one area.
What you could do and I reccomend to many with ylod is look on eBay and buy a faulty ps3 that does not read games and replace the blu ray drive with the ylod one (making sure that the faulty ps3 is the same version as the ylod one). In your case this would be a 60gb

Thanks, That's what I will most likely do, since everything is screwed up and it will come out cheaper in the end.
