Can anyone help me repair my Blu-Ray drive?

Hello,

I'm trying to get my Blu-Ray drive up and running. Been working on it for a couple of days, and each day I make progress.

I feel like I'm so close. I'm not really able to get an answer from anywhere, and I've been trying, so I thought I'd try this forum for a suggestion.

Here is a video of my current problem:

If anyone could help out it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, all the cables are correct and functioning, as the laser does work and everything moves as it should. I'm just not sure what is supposed to catch that one trigger to push the disc catch into the gears...

So its not grabbing your disc? That would be an issue with the other piece of the drive. See those white clips? Those hold your disc in place. If they aren't positioned right when you put it back together, or if it slipped out of place while it was together, it won't let your disc go in all the way. I know that yours is a different model, but maybe this video will help?

Here's what happens when I insert a disc - Me inserting a disc with the top of the drive on. - YouTube

I'm not sure I can do what's done in that other video, as I think the models are quite different...

You have to make sure the white gears on the top piece, are lined up and in the correct position. When you put a disc in it moves the white arms then makes the little wheels spin to pull in the disc.

Those 2 white arms have a spring each and those and the gears must be in the correct spot to align with the parts that move the arm on the bottom part.

I hope this makes sense. It is kinda hard to explain. I have some drives lying around maybe I'll take some pics. That drive is from a CECHK, CECHL, CECHP, or a model close to that. I have messed with those a lot. And I have fixed the problem you are having before.

Not sure about the extra letter in the model number...

Says CECH 3001A - I think it's one of the newer slim models produced.

If you could take some pictures that would be greatly appreciated.

Especially of the underside of the top piece of the drive...I'm not sure I've got it all correct.

Oops, yeah that is a newer drive. It's been a long day. But I do have some of those lying around too.

My guess is you are missing one of the on legs from the top piece that should be triggering. Take a look at these pics and see if you have all the pieces.

pics here
