Hi Guys

Have a ps3 here that had diagonal graphics so i removed both heat spreaders reflowed the gpu and replaced the paste on both GPU/CPU dies now i still have green light but now no picture at all just wondered if anybody new somthing i could try before i reball it

You know, if it didn't ever go to ylod, and it just started getting distorted picture, reballing it may not work. Reballing it will only work if it is the solder that is the issue. With it getting messed up graphics before going out completely, I am leaning more toward a burnt out rsx chip. If the reflow didn't work, you probably just need a new rsx chip, or the big jump... A new ps3. I would hate for you to reball a bad chip to your board.

thankyou very much for your reply can you let me know where you can purchase rsx chips as it would be the cheaper option didnt realise you could get green light with a dead gpu thanks again for your info

You could also try resetting your video... Or RSX chip could be dead.

are we talking about resetting the rsx as in wait for two beeps etc if so then i think im looking at a dead chip

And if that doesn't work, and you have tried a reflow, then dead rsx chip is the last thing it could be. Google rsx chip for ps3 and see if you can find one. I know they sell them, but I don't know the price.
