No the not linked , well in a way . Python is written in c or c++ but what I mean is it's a user friendly language to learn python is , the syntax resembles java or some others . Plus python scripts can be used in many languages including running the scripts on ps3 . Python is a scripting language , but it's so much more than that . It does anything you want really but as any language it takes a lot of time and learning I been dabbling with programming for 20 odd years and still aren't great .

You could try to code in websites, then move in to the hardcore programming, start small and then go big. With websites you'll gain basic knowledge of how things work and such. I know i am not a coder but this is the best advice i can give.

Yes wolf is right try out some JavaScript , CSS , XHTML and stuff like that to good point
