hi all,

now i have a PS3, and i want to insert a my external HDD as it is ( have games in it) in my ps3 slim, so when i replace it should i re-install MM and the other psn games, or all my old stuff will be there as it was in the old HDD?

and should i format the HDD through the PS3 or the PC ? which one is better?

[s]I think you will have to re-install most everything. I don't think MM will still be there, but I could be wrong. It should be easy though if you're already on CFW, since you can just install the packages like normal.

As for formatting, if you're moving your external HDD into the PS3, then I'm fairly certain you have to format it through the PS3, since it has a different file system/structure.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you because I'm not sure if you've been using a HDD as an external with all your games on it and are just moving it inside the ps3 to make it an internal drive, or if you're using a clean, brand new drive. So, perhaps that's why people have offered a clear answer yet.[/s]

Edit: I can't read right. Disregard my post, since I don't know of anyone who has moved an external inside their ps3. I would imagine you would have to reformat it (and you'd lose your data on that drive from the format), but like I said, I don't know of anyone who's done this.

well, the HDD that i want to replace in my ps3 slim i already use it as ( external HDD ) for my ps3, so to format the HDD i can not as it have all the games in it,

am on CFW 3.55 , so is it possbile to just replace it and just install the MM and everything will be fine ... ?

changing the ps3 internal hard drive formats the new drive placed in it, so your would lose all your games ect.

do you mean if i replace the PS3 HDD and put my external with the games in it i will have to format the HDD, or i just need to re-install MM,

about the game data and the save, its ok to lose them , but i can't format HDD that am going to put it there as it have all my games ...

Yes the ps3 will format the drive and all data will be lost.
