Dead Blu-Ray drive - worth fixing? or just get a new PS3?

What d'you guys think? My drive is dead on my legendary 60GB Launch model. Still works fantastic on 3.55 but with a dead drive, many backups that need a disc don't work

Should I buy a replacement drive? I am pretty good with my hands (masterb-- I mean um, fixing)

Or should I just sell this and get another phat PS3 that works fully

it would be a shame to sell a launch model, i would be looking to fix it, i recon it would be cheaper to do and keep the ps3

Just replace the drive its not worth losing a launch model since your on 3.55 you can just remarry it so I'd replace the whole drive entirely.

Sorry I was away, I was downloading a load of royalty free video content

OK I just checked my model it's a CECHC03

LOL, so I guess it's equivalant of the US/JAP 80GB Model. Oh well lol. So should I fix it? I guess eBay is the place to go, but what's this marriage talk? They're all the same race.

I'm in the UK, I go Miami twice a year though

Remarrying a drive is used when you do a full replacement of the drive

Oh snap! but I realised. The drive can take discs and eject, it just doesn't read/detect. So dead laser?
