add a fan to the power supply?

Hello, i was wondering, has any of you guys have added a Fan to the ps3 power supply?
My idea is this.
.-get a 12v Pc fan
.-cut the top of the power supply and add the fan there
.-Solder the fan to a 12v point in the power supply
.-cut the top of the ps3 case so the hot air gets to the outside.

will this help a phat ntsc 60gb ps3 to cool down?
i remember when i changed the thermal paste on my ps3(1 year ago), the power supply got really hot, it even burned my hand.

I'm using my ps3 ATM and the fans get loud(4th gear i think) BUT the air coming from the back is really hot, so i think the thermal paste is still working fine.(am i correct?)

I think that the ps3 power supply is the culprit of having to much heat inside the ps3.
what do you guys think?

The power supply always gets hot. And Cutting the Shield on it would not be a good idea.

i was thinking also of adding a Cpu heatsink to the top (using thermal tape)
And connect the cpu fan(that comes with the heatsink) to a usb port. I know it will run on 5v but

.- what i have always wondered is this.
When i changed the thermal paste 1 year ago , i had the cover off , and the ps3 shut down twice while gaiming.( the fans were at lv 3 gear)
The power supply chassis was extremelly hot it even burned my hand

BUT when i put the cover on, i finished Ninja gaiden sigma, without a single problem. and the fans never got loud and the air coming from the back was hot, wich tells me that the thermal paste change was done correctly (artic silver 5 on little dot)

that's why i suspect that the power supply must be cooling from the Ps3 internal fan.
Anyone can confirm this?

The Easy way to cool it is Take the top off, and Get a fan and Put it Very close to the PS3 and it will Keep it from Overheating.

thanks for your input TJ.
I'm going to wait if a 4.21 cf is released and then i'll buy a slim( looks promising ).
That way i can risk damaging my 3.55 kwmea console. it has served me well, lol.
I'll add a fan to the power supply, i always wondered why sony never did this in the first place. 650 us console and no way to properly cool down the power supply.

Ps3devwiki website, click on SKU model and scroll down. You'll find what you're looking for.
