To be fair how can rocksteady make there games work flawless. I know it is far smaller but they did seem to any trouble coding it to run as good as it is on the xbox. I bought skyrim the week it came out on my ofw ps3 and it was the most stressful game i ever played for about 6 or whatever months it took to release 1.04. I would have not a problem with if it was like oblivion in graphics because gameplay is what really matters. The least they could do is if they get dawnguard working release it for free because god knows im not buying another Bethesda game until they get it sorted!!

I apologize in advance if this comes across the wrong way, it is not my intention to act out the fanboy stereotype in this (or any) comment I write or reply to.
I encourage all of you who can afford it to purchase an Xbox 360 Slim (preferably the 250gb model). The reason I say this is because multiplatform western developers who create games primarily for the 360 and PS3 will 9 times out of 10 always start making the 360 version first and then try to port it to the PS3. There are exceptions to this, such as LA Noire (which clearly looks and runs better on the PS3 because initially it was a PS3 exclusive from what I recall). Other than that though, you'll probably find that the 360 version tends to look and run better. And that's not because the 360 is more powerful, because it isn't. The reason - and I may be repeating the obvious to many of you, but please bare with me - is because the architectures of each console are vastly different. When a game is programmed from scratch on the PS3 - usually exclusives - and then optimized, you can clearly see how good the game looks and runs. I don't need to point out any examples as there are many, many exclusives on the PS3 which look - in my opinion - incredible. If you do decide to purchase a 360 (or already own one), you should probably buy the 360 version of multiplatform titles from western devs, whereas, it should probably be the other way around if it's a game from Japan such as FFXIII. Also, the 360 has a lot to offer that the PS3 doesn't (and vice versa), therefore, you'll have the best of both worlds, so to speak. That's just my opinion, and I'm not biased towards either console in particular. As stated, they each have their strengths and weaknesses when compared with each other. However they're both still great consoles, and the experience - I find - is quite unique for each. I liken the 360 to the PC/Windows experience and the PS3 to more of a Mac. I know it may be a big investment for many of you, but I really think you'll be happy about it. |

They really should have just had another team making an exact copy for PS3 (Native not port)
They would have to Remake the whole game Just for PS3 Because ports suck.

Two, as developers have lamented, the guts of the new consoles are geared to make the gaming equivalent of dumb blondes. It has to do with the fact that both the XBox 360 and the PS3's Cell CPU use "in-order" processing, which, to greatly simplify, means they've intentionally crippled the ability to make clever A.I. and dynamic, unpredictable, wide-open games in favor of beautiful water reflections and explosion debris that flies through the air prettily.

it's just sad to hear that Bethesda is going to be unable to make more customers happy
Sony should have addressed these problems when creating the whole console itself, Bethesda knew before hand they would be putting their games onto the PS3

it's just the Bethesda has already been pretty loud about how they feel about the PS3 and I'm pretty sure they don't give a crap about quality or their own fans.

I keep reading that people had problems with fallout3, but I never had a problem with either the vanilla or goty editions. The only times it would even slow down was when going in or out of the targetting system. even then it was rare for me but ymmv.
Oblivion seemed to run better on ps3 than xbox. Framerate was better, textures were better, and it loaded less. Again, at least for me. I couldnt get into vegas, i just couldnt invest in the character, so I dont know how well that ran. But, skyrim has been a disaster for ps3 users from the start. Patches only worked short term to one degree or another, as soon as your save accumulated another few megs the framerate drops, freezes and whatnot would occur again. But my main problem with it all was that bethesda KNEW it would run like crap before they shipped. The SAY they THOUGHT they could patch it up post release. But they actively deceived ps3 users by saying they were giving the ps3 version extra attention so it wouldnt suffer like previous releases. They refused to supply ps3 copies for review, and I also find review sites complicit in this debacle because they all played along, proclaimed it to be GOTY while being aware of the problems on ps3. and none have given this topic the attention that it should have. If you cant code your game for my console of choice, then dont release it there. If I really want to play your game, Ill find a way. But dont release it broken, dont handicap reviewers by not letting them review the broken mess before I spend my money on it, dont lie to me and say it runs as well as the other platforms, and most of all dont play down millions of users reactions to the broken mess by saying that its only a small segmant of the platforms users until the weight of the amount of negative feedback makes you tell the truth. Are the coders subpar in regards to the ps3? Maybe, probably, who know. Lol I fault the corporate greed that made it exeptable for them to screw ovwr people payinf for a product. If this were any other industry, any other type of product, and/or type of consumer audience, the broken product that does not work as advertised would be recalled or the offending company would either be sued or slapped by the ftc. To some degree I find fault with sony as well. With the certification process, I find it hard to believe that sony werent aware of the issues before release. They should have protected their users one way or another, either by not certifying it, or stepping up and supplying bethesda with sony/ibm engineers to help optimize it. I blame Sony for making the PS3 hard to develop for. There is no game on PS3 that is like Skyrim. In fact, every PS3 exclusive is as linear as a one-way road. Plus the PS3s ram is divided and stuff for no good reason.

After 6 years and 3-4 games how could they have known? /Sarcasm They could have bashed ps3 and not released on it, and said sony screwed up in the design. But they would have had to forgo the $180,000,000 they scammed from ps3 users. |

I managed to put 473 hours of gameplay time into it (and a 25mb gamesave file size) when all was said and done. As you can see, I found it to be a phenomenal game and did not consider it "finished" unless I had gone methodically through and explored/completed every single part. In my opinion, it deserved GOTY status. Dammit though, near the end it would begin to lag on me within 10 minutes and crash within 20. I did end up picking up New Vegas + all the DLCs, but I haven't started playing it yet. I fear the worst though, after the countless articles and forum posts I've read concerning the same **** which crippled my experience of Fallout 3. I've been thinking of selling my copy and picking up the 360 version, but I already spent 50 bucks on the DLC packs, so... we'll see how it goes once I do start playing it. I know there's a version available now with the DLC included so I might just pick that one up for 360. If anyone cares, my first experience with a (really) bad port on the PS3 started pretty recently actually when I decided to continue playing the Splinter Cell series where I left off after Chaos Theory. So I picked up Double Agent for PS3 since I prefer playing my games on the PS3. Big mistake; and I should have picked up on it from the fact that UbiSoft didn't even bother to code a PS3 version of part 5/Conviction. I then found the 360 version in the bargain bin at my local Gamestop, got home about an hour later and played both versions' first level. Yeah... pretty bad. I realize the Unreal Engine may favor the 360, but holy crap, the hack job they did on Double Agent was repulsive. By the way, LA Noire is an open world game isn't it? I haven't played it yet but it looks like GTA4 from the screenshots. My point being that it runs well on PS3 (better than on 360), yet it's non linear I think (although probably not as large a world as Skyrim). Last edited by ro4eva; 09-03-2012 at 04:03 PM. |
