@Annelies from when i first became a member here, you have been just about done with the ps3. Now I know a game console forum might not be where your passion lies, and can see how excitement about 'new' releases for a product you don't own may come difficult.
Perhaps your asking the wrong question, instead of 'Should I continue writing for something i have no passion for?' you should ask yourself 'Does writing here effect your goal of becoming a writer in a negative or positive way?' Either way, a lot of users wish you the best of luck.
I would bet the reason for sticking around is about the same for most regulars on the site...we are more than just a site in a scene, we are friends. Maybe not always best of friends, but hey $hits gonna stink with this many a**holes in one spot.

If journalism is truly what you want as a career, do you think you will always have the liberty of writing solely about things you are interested in?
I sincerely hope not, you need to be able to write about what you are told to write about too otherwise your future as a journalist is doomed before its even begun.

Any person with a spell checker and basic literary skills can produce a good article about what they themselves are interested in but only a good journalist can produce a good article on something they have no interest in whatsoever.

As a journalist, the audiences interests are what's important, not yours.

I'm not voting because I don't know if I care or not to be honest and I don't see why you are asking either. Its your decision to make not ours. Only you know which is the right one.

Everyone needs a little drama in their life, @Annelies is no exception.

Also you got a Nexus 7 and you are not on IRC >.<
I thought you would have waited for the Nexus 10, as 7" screens are for girls

what can I say that others haven't already?

If you really do not care about the scene, why stay? Well, I kind of ask myself that question too some times. The scene, I could care less about. The wars with dongles, devs at each others throats, conspiracies, withholding information... it's all useless drama. It's the people inside the site that keep me coming back.

You obviously enjoy writing, and it's obvious you are very passionate about it. You won't always find yourself writing about things you enjoy though. However in writing about things you don't necessarily enjoy, it gives you experience in unfamiliar fields, or .. for lack of better words under-appreciated topics? Adds a bit of diversity to your work instead of writing about the same things all of the time.

It's been an interesting transition of yours since my inception to the group. Watching you go from troll to banned, to troll again? to not troll, to being a mod, to leaving, to being a mod, now to.. leaving maybe? I might have got some of that messed up...

Point is, seems you still have a bit of attachment to this place :P I know how you feel though. Sometimes you need to detach yourself from things for a while to figure out what's going on inside of yourself.

I suggest leaving for a while to see how you feel, and maybe make a decision after that regarding everything. It's never good doing something you don't like or makes you feel drained after it. I love writing too, but I don't think it's to the level of which YOU'RE at, and also I don't really think I could give it my best shot writing articles about the PS3 and/or scene news. Just doesn't tickle my colon as much as a blistering guitar solo.

Listen to your heart; and if you're heart is confused listen to your colon!

I partially agree with this, but I can not just ignore the human factor from the equation: it will affect the final result. I am of those old people who do not believe in working without passion, based only on pure technique.

I think Anellies has a rare ability to be guided by passions. I mean, whenever I see him writing about Anne Frank (or graphic design, or the music he likes), I can see the conviction and the passion in every word, and that has nothing to do with professionalism, while the page articles are all well written and professional, but could have been written by anyone (Jennys for example, has a nice writing technics).

Imho people works better doing what they love and that professionalism is just a tool to achieve better results...but of course I could be wrong, that's just my opinion

if you could add that last line, then at least one member is happy with what you said.
