[CAUTION] while doing game updates on old games.
This may be common sense to some people but it kind of slipped my mind today a bit since I wasn't expecting this to happen at all.
I plugged in my God of War Collection disc today and it told me there was an update to 1.01. I thought it was strange, and when I read the revision, the ONLY thing mentioned was support for PSVita. That should have been my 2nd red flag. I waited, and waited for the painfully slow download to complete; all the while thinking to myself "alright it's been several months maybe I can complete this part that's been holding me up". I go back to the TV and there's a notice saying that I won't be able to play this game until I update to the newest firmware revision. Boy, did my testicles swell when I saw that.... Signing new updates with NEW keys to play on ancient games.... that's just terrible. Now I'm out my God of War fix until I either 1) am forced to fix my issue with the 4.11 spoof that won't uninstall or 2) update to latest firmware. (easy answer is to get the new spoof I know, but for some reason I cannot uninstall the old 4.11 spoof. I did something somewhere that fkcd up the program somewhere). Suggestions, comments, pity...?

as ron36 said, delete from "game data utility" and start again, just dont download the update
easiest solution is to not have the internet connected while playing and therefore no more update nagging

The update for god of war (as ICO HD and probably other) is to give support for the PS VITA remote play (probably is just the flag related to it on param.sfo and nothing more on eboot than resigned)
So it s not they just resign for being naughty. |

Heh thanks for the comments. Upon posting i thought immediately of deleting game data but didnt want to lose all my progress.
Im pretty sure THAT will keep providing i delete the proper data. Yes too, it was vita remote play support (didnt mean to imply Sony was deliberately messing us up). Upset me though ![]() Mind the spelling mistakes.... I absolutely hate touchcreeb and whenevr i type a warning comes up saying i have no signal and fks up my place.

well, they were able to just modify the param.sfo and repack it with the original eboot (because probably nothing was necessary to add on the eboot).
To avoid update (and keep internet browser connection), have you try to change the NP environment on debug option (per default it s NP, change for anything else and in case, this option can be reset per default on System setting-restore default setting) (but it s also mean no online game) The save data should be fine and you probably be able to continue your game at the last point. You was probably too much upset to be stuck with this 4.20 eboot.

@stuck
To fix your spoof issue, just boot into recovery. Choose option 6. and install OFW 3.55. Then reinstall your cfw from the xmb.

Needless to say, I was having a dumb day yesterday. Thanks for the helps! Managed to delete the update data and all is good! Will proceed to re-install OFW --> CFW later
