Hey there,
I've got 2 PS3. My old one that is broken and a new fully working PS3.
Both are fat and both are running 4.30 Rogero 2.05.
Well, the point is that I've used my old ps3 to get the new working. (Swapping some components)
The old hard drive is a 250 gb with all my stuff on it( saves, trophys, game data etc.)

Now I want to put this (old) hard drive in the new ps3. Is this possible? Or is there a system checking and not allowing to swap the old drive (with stuff on it) with the drive in the new and working ps3?

I have no backups and need my stuff restored from my old drive.

If your old ps3 is dead, I don't think there's a way to retrieve the data. Once you plug your hard drive into your new ps3, it will format it and you will start fresh.
