Hi guys im new to the ps3 sense and i got a ps3 i want to jail break to play backups off my ext hard drive but im confused on what to get. I started flashing my origianl ps3 about 2 months ago and i read on so much bs spam i ended up thinking i had to have the newest update so i update my ps3 not knowing and now it cant be jail broke so well i said F it and flashed my 360 well i was yard saleing this weekend and found a non working ps3 got it for only $3 it the old 320gb system it would power on and back off so i took it apart and used the heat gun on the chips and its working now for the most part but the rom wont read games or even eject it! I had cod mw2 in it which i took it out before i got the drive working by takeing the rom apart well i got it working and all back togather and so i tried it and put in the game and it took it but it wont read or eject it again so i checked the FW and it was 3.21 So i read and watched videos last night on how to jail break it and i figerd i can play the games off the harddrive since the rom dosent work so i updated it to 3.55 and thats as far as i got so i want to make sure i get the right CFW on there to be able to play backs as some people say geohot wont play back ups and im confused on which cfw i need and where i would get the CFW if u guys could he i would really appreciate it as i alrdy messed up doing my first ps3 and i dont want to take a chance again on makeing it up jail breakable.

on a side note i dont intend to ever play on PSN so as long as it plays off the hard drive i would be happy.

Also just out of cursioty could i buy a new/used rom from another system and use it in this ps3 or are they like 360's where each rom is assigned to that system only?

ok i read the tout and do u think i would have any problems playing the games off my harddrive since the rom wont read or eject. It said this below

1 - Make sure that you have a original game inside your PS3.
2 - (inside the manager) Select the game you want and press (the manager will go out automatically).
3 - Go up (where it should be the original game) and you will find the selected game. Press and play it

ok i think i got it i just put kmeaw on my system and i tinkerd around with the rom and it started working again i belive its all good it dosent say in my sys info that 3.55 kmeaw it just says 3.55 but theres 2 new app home loader and install pkge files on the XMB now so i think it worked

update i put rogero 7.9a on there and tried to start it just got a black screen and had to turn off the ps3 from the switch guess rogero dosent work
