[slim] Start green then all lights go off

Well, i paid to downgrade my ps3, it was working normal a week, and now got this symptom, i press start but no video or sound then turn off all lights.

Seeing others posts, i found normal on psu 12V and 5Vsb on pin 1, ground pin 2, 3,3v on pin3 (after start) and 4,7v on pin 4, (psu to mobo).

i cant, enter in restore, the ps3 dont accept any other command.

ps: after downgrade my ps3 not worked well games on external hdd, but i could pass games from external hdd to interal hdd.

Thx for the help, and sorry about the english, brazilian here!

You have the Green Light of Death/GLOD and possibly a bad RSX chip. All you need is to reball your system and replace your RSX chip.

I don't think it I'd glod. If the ps3 turns on green then shuts off to no lights at all, not even red standby light, then it sounds like a different problem. It sounds like either a psu problem, or a power capacitor on the board could be blown or damaged.

if it is a slim then big chance it is your psu,,very common fault with them ,,
sony did not think it out much when they designed these ,,the fan pulls hot air from the chips and blows it out through the psu which also gets rather warm ,,due to the extra heat from the chips it overheats the psu and blows components in psu ,,get another one ,,it shuts down due to overload ,,if it is a aps 250 psu (check on bottom of the psu) you could be in luck as they have 2 adjustable pots in the psu that can be adjusted (plenty of tuts on net about it)),,this is another way that might solve your fault ,,when it goes out ,,do you have to pull the plug out and plug back in to get a red light,,i usually replace the pots with a better quality but you do need a m/meter to set the values ,,you can either go to high or to low and can cause damage

Thx for the info, i made the adjust of trimpots ( my psu is aps 270) but nothings change i've heard its could be ci cx099****, reballing/reflow could resolve, i tested every capacitor on the mobo, but nothings anormal, so i was thinking on mosfet : 025n03ms, its strange, the gate is on ground, source receives 12v and drain only have 1.0v, so the processor and rsx only works with 1~1.10v ???

thats the only thing i found strange.

yeah these slim psus are a pain,,i have about 12 of them here that are either no power or shut down when load on them,,i have changed the mosfets to and still the same ,,i will keep at them till i sort them out,,what ever way it goes we can keep each other in the loop,,,i have them all from 250 to the 270,,the worst are the bb and db as they do not have the trim pots ,,,all are meant to keep us guessing ,,by the way my name is neil,,i have been repairing consoles from the psx to the ps3 (only ps3 in last 15 months)plus xboxes,,

Well Neil, i found a video on youtube a man repairing ps3 fat, the fuses burn, because of bad capacitor.

my mobo has no bad fuse or capacitor, and looking back other post i found this: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39277

i dont have a tensy or e3, so i'll leave that to person i paid to downgrade to see if he can recovers the boot.

the only day i have free is saturday, so then i will have answers next week, solving or not i going tho post here.

I have the same problem! I found this thread to be useful (http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?p=357076) but I don't know how to do this....

"you have to solder SBE (nor clip) and Pa0/Tristate for unbricking ..
then use flash fun mode to reflash your backup ..
in flash fun mode your ps3 wont shut down ..”

Anyone with step by step instructions? Thanks!
