So, I've been reading the comments of various topics, the ones I have been more into were the ones about "4.21 CFW" and to my surprise the majority wants it for "play the latest games for free" or "So could you please how do i install pirated games and enjoy PS 3 on Fullest".

I obviously won't say all users who hack their PS3s is for the purpose of playing pirated games but gathered from these comments it seems to be the case.

Before anyone tries to say I'm one of those wanting to hack his PS3 to play illegal games, no, I just want to hack my PS3 for Showtime Media Centre, OtherOS - Linux and have my games on the HDD since $ony didn't offer the feature for legit PS3 users (if Blu-ray's speed wasn't too slow I wouldn't mind but it is -- try playing MotorStorm and see how slow are the loadings).

Can someone clear this question of mine?

I think Im more addicted to getting and installing the games than actually playing them as strange as that sounds.

I typically work 12 hours a day/6 days a week. In addition to this I drive 1 1/2 hours back and forth every day. My work schedule is so demanding that my woman of 13 1/2 years left me last month............not before first draining my bank account, stealing my car and of course taking my children, but thats all a story for a later time. In retrospect I suppose my daily drinking didnt help matters much.

My point. I have only a couple hours per day to do the web thing or game thing and much of that is spent here. I admit I pirate games. This is not meant to be an endorsement..........the rest of you are free to do as you wish. Its just an explenation. I do have a poop load of games that I have only actually played a handful of.

I play a lot of zen pinball on my daughters ps3 that is on official firmware whatever number that I actually purchased from PSN.

Same here. I install games and then get them working with eboot fixes or
Pkg or whatever, then I never get around to paying them. Also, I really just enjoy messing with different homebrew like code unique and emulators, even though I just mess around with them and never really play games. The thing I like the most is buying ps3 consoles, fixing them, downgrading them, and then selling them to someone else to enjoy, but here lately it business hasn't been too good. Cheapskates and all.

I'm on my fifth Android phone since I bought the very first Anroid phone, the G1, the day it came out. I've rooted and hacked every phone I've had since then. It has nothing at all to do with free games or free anything. I hacked my Wii just because I wanted it to have the Homebrew channel. When I hacked it I made sure it had DVD playback even though I never watch DVD's on it. It's not really a good Idea to watch DVD's on it in the first place. Somewhere in the upper echelon's of society there are people who are allowed to have the completely unlocked cool things that we are not. I get a certain high or adrenaline rush whenever I hack or unlock something. It's like having a car without the restricted chips in it like the cops do. Mostly, because it's just cool and fun too. That's why I put Linux on my PS3. Not because I necessarily use it, but because I can and it's badass. I like havin all my things unlocked to their full potential. The only reason they're locked in the first place is because of money. On that point, I hardly doubt anybody that pirates does so because they can afford to buy the games but would rather not.

Well, here in Argentina, the official currency is around 4,50 to 1 (in the official market and if you are allowed to buy US dollars, otherwise you will pay around 6.50 pesos for each dollar), i mean 1 Dollar = 4,50 Argentine pesos. A PS3 cost around 600 dollars (160gb with one control) and games 100 dollars aprox for new releases (FIFA13 or PES13 for example). if an average salary here is around 900 dollars (and i'm very generous), do the maths and you will understand why i want a CFW for playing backups. And i'm not mention the sh*t games or games that you can end in 2 hours.

I'm not trying to justify me... just giving my point of view from my reality. I love to play but i can't afford to to pay for 4 or 5 games per month.

I could say I really don't care about homebrew for ps3, except for a few ones that are essential to run pirate games. I got psp, Iphone, Ipad, those have good homebrew stuff and portable.

I think I am addicted to hacking, modding stuff, and just trying to fix.
I have about 20 PS3s.
I think about 6 of them are ones I take parts from and will never be fixed.
I have about 11 that will be fixed, eventually. Just need to sort out what parts I need, etc...
Then I have a DEX console, a 3.55 CFW CEX console, both slims.
I also have a phat on OFW 4.25, for obvious reasons.

I also have 3 consoles here that are not mine and will be downgraded.

I also have 2 softmodded Wiis. Why 2, I don't know. Been meaning to sell one.

I also have 2 xbox360s, a old arcade edition and a limited modern warfare 2 edition. Both have drives flashed with ixtreme.


My wife thinks I'm crazy. LOL! I work full time and don't have much time to work on them. So my basement looks like a video game console repair shop. But with my addictive personality (just bought another broken PS3) I guess it is better than doing drugs? Or at least bad drugs. I will always love u Mary Jane.
