Mint condition cds ... faster load times. This is my reason for using no CD patches on PC, also the reason I hacked my Ps3. Besides I have my Ps3 hidden in my entertainment center, changing discs would be a hassle.

Save File Hacking and CodeUnique are important. Because no one should tell you how you should play your own games, even the game developers. One man's food is another man's poison. All users have different level/experience of "Fun".

Japan you need to get over yourself and stop limiting potential sales instead of only releasing games in Nihongo... GALGUN, Tacchi Shiyo Love Application, Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuiso, and many others I will never buy but I have DL'd them, until you make an official release in my country. GET OVER YOURSELF JAPAN. The rest of the world wants to play your games too. You farging selfish bastards!!!!!!!
Bit off-topic, but such games are not being released outside of Japan because they KNOW there won't be enough demand to make a profit. The titles you listed are most likely extremely niche titles (the only one I've heard of is Touch Shot -Love Application-, and yeah, I don't think that would sell well, lol). Sure there are people who want to play those games here, but not enough. Why would they localize if they lose money off it?

I feel your pain though, I'd also love having more Japanese games released here. I don't enjoy any kind of game as much as I enjoy JRPGs. One of my favourite series is Tales of, and half of the games from that franchise don't make it to the west. I wouldn't go as far as importing them (yet) though either, since on a JRPG it's important to understand what's happening lol, though I'm seriously considering it for Tales of Xillia 2 by fear it won't be localized here, and that game looks too damn awesome to miss out on x_x.

On topic, I have no doubt that 99% of the people who mod consoles pirate. I don't care about that. Honestly, I think piracy is neither right nor wrong, for various reasons. I'm not going to write all the reasons why I think that way, since everyone here has probably heard each of them at least once, however, I'll admit I used to pirate games (though I don't anymore on current gen consoles, well PS3 to be exact since that's the only one I still have, and this was not the only reason I modded consoles) and will list the reasons as to why I did that.

(Some people are probably going to call me a hypocrit, since whenever I saw someone making a thread that blatantly implies they're pirating, such as asking for the original EBOOT of a game, I can't help but tell them to rip it off their original disc that I knew they didn't have. Though the main reason I did that is because that forum doesn't support piracy, so I never asked for help with a game I've pirated and wouldn't support others doing so)

Anyway, having grown in a somewhat poor family, I acquired the mentality of avoiding spending money where it's not necessary (I'm currently 20, and in my childhood/adolescence I've had 2-3 consoles, that my mother bought or I was given as a gift, but we ended up not having more than like 2 games on each, and selling them as we needed money. The first console I bought myself was a PS2 in 2010 , which is when I started pirating). After all, I think it's normal for someone to think "Why should I spend $60 on a game when I can have it for free?" I'd rather spend my money on more useful things in life. It's nice to care about the game developers, but it's also important to care about yourself. (Besides most of your money doesn't go to the devs but to the greedy corporates in the companies that employs them, but that's an entirely different topic altogether, and doesn't apply to small companies, which IMO are more important to support than the huge ones if you like their games)

However, I've experienced that "overexposure syndrome" someone mentioned earlier. I have pirated about a dozen of games on the PS2, and another dozen on the PS3, and ended up playing only 3-4 on each. I couldn't get into most of them (though that was a good experience for me, since it helped me to figure out which kind of games are worth playing and which are not). That and the fact newer games back then were unplayable on CFW and a few upcoming games I really wanted to play were soon being released, made me realize that in the end I'm not playing that many games, I only find a handful of games great enough to be worth playing, and it might be alright to buy 1-2 every few months, so I got myself an OFW PS3. Haven't used my CFW PS3 since, except for PS1/PS2 games, which a PS2 can do just fine, and a bit of homebrew but not that much (I'll get back to that later) so I sold it. Even with the current breakthroughs I still don't regret my decision. I feel like there are too many restrictions on CFW when it comes to playing games (no PSN, though I only care about the Store, issues running latest games or latest patches for older games), which started becoming kind of a hassle for me. (If that wasn't clear, I'm by no means bashing the devs here, they're doing their best, and what they've done so far is great)
I'd also like to start my own small collection of my favourite games.

I do however enjoy hacking consoles itself, messing with them, running homebrew and what not, but in the end I wasn't using them often enough anymore, and didn't deem it worth it to keep my CFW PS3. Besides, emulators run just as fine on PS2 and I have a powerful enough PC aswell.

I still pirate games on older platforms, PS1 and PS2 to be exact (unless available as digital download on PSN), I have no problem with it since the devs that made those games stopped making money off them long ago, and I would be unable to find them brand new anyway so it's not like I'd be supporting the devs if I bought originals (once again I'm not saying it's right to pirate, but still there are good reasons that will push people to do it). I'd still like to collect PS1/PS2 originals but I don't plan on doing so for a while.
