Ninja Exploit Release! I could confirm that the Urbanix exploit revealed recently by hacker Sam Jordam (PS VITA PSP Kernel Exploit [ ISO LOADER ] - YouTube) is real. I do not have a VHBL release ready for this, and I haven't confirmed if the claims of a Kernel exploit are real. All I can say is that it is easy to see there is at least a usermode exploit, and Sony will probably remove the game and/or patch that user mode exploit in 1.82 (and potentially the Kernel exploit if it exists), so if you think this could be useful to you, get the game now.
For some reason the hacker is trying to get people to believe that me and other random people are related to his hack. We believe he his doing this only to gain some sort of credibility. The people he mentions are, as far as can tell, unrelated to his work.
Important: If it turns out there is a kernel exploit, it will probably work with Monster Hunter as well, don't update unless you need to!

Give it time...I'm sure the vita is going to be wide open one day like the psp is. (Although i remember someone stating that about the ps3 in the 3.41 days)

I'll probably get one when things start to look interesting homebrew wise as there isnt even one game that I would like to play on the vita currently

Not really. Sadly, Coldbird, a great developer in the PSP and Vita scene has now left due to the kernel leak which reveals that this game is exploitable. The kernel files were encrypted for protection against leaks and only work on the console they are for. The leak did nothing but announce to Sony the exploitable game used as well as the kernel exploit.

Coldbird is now dropping out of the scene and not releasing the cfw/kernel exploit at all. The chances of someone else picking it up, reversing the files, and putting it out to the public is slim.

It will only take somebody skilled enough to reverse the encryption, from what I understand, it was just here to “delay” skilled people, and “stop” people with no technical skills. I assume people at Sony will find the exploit if they look for it. I am not even sure the exploit itself is encrypted. The only question is, will they waste time reverse engineering these files…

So the encryption I am guessing is not very strong, but the person who cracks it could end up facing the wrath of Sony's legal department if he doesn't do it right. That fact might just deter a lot of people seeing as how sh!t hit the fan in the PS3 scene.

What firmware are you on? Urbanix is still up I believe.

If you are on 1.81 you can download it from the store, easy as that.

If you are on 1.80 or below you will need a PS3 that can download the game (4.25 OFW) and Charles Proxy (see here for the method: http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?p=172221#p172221)
