i dont really follow the ps vita scene much at all, and from what i understood it was only the PSP emulator side of it that is/was ever semi hacked. now the PSP was hacked so early on its life cycle due to sony rushing it out to compete with the nintendo ds and thus left debugging stuff in the 1.00 original firmware. sony learned from that major mistake, and also learned from the ps3's security features semi failures. so i see the ps vita being another PS3 style scene were it will take years before we see anything remotely close to were the ps3 is now in terms of being opened/hacked for unsigned code that isnt just PSP mode related.

i personally dont like the vita, hope it never takes off, and sony never makes another handheld console again.

i did enjoy the PSP back in the dark alex haydays but most PSP games sucked IMO. i doubt the vita will ever be anything close to what the psp was in its prime. id like to be proved wrong tho.

No. The games all have a license file the only allows the console that downloads it to play it.

@SniperSnake Nope, there is a UVL (Userland Vita Loader, a HEN), for the Vita in the works by developer Yifanlu. It's aim is to be an easily ported homebrew launcher, just like the HBL is for the PSP.

I have this game on my PS3's HDD got it free from Spain's PlayStation offer via FaceBook. It's entertaining as a mobile phone game can be.

And also got it on the PC on .pkg which supposedly was to use on my PSP or something but never bothered. Maybe it would be illegal to share this game even though it was given freely.

There is a chance it might get to be a full kernel exploit but the possibility is slim.

There is no way you can use a pkg file with CMA or the Vita in any way right now. CMA will also ignore any files downloaded with the PSP's MediaGo PC program. (There is also the fact that PSVita PSP/PS1 files have an added layer of encryption on top of the regular PSP encryption.)

Hey everybody as many of you may know i left the scene a long time ago and have decided to come back and give the vita ago and see if i can crack it and also please forgive me for storming out on the scene like i did

Most of the files are very easy to Decrypt.
all VBOOT Files can be decrypted with the PSP PBP Unpacker by: ReaperX
Just by renaming them to EBOOT.
So its not very hard to reverse the files.

I know that they can be unpacked with pbp unpacker, but something tells me that the pbp itself was not using any non-standard PSP encryption. Perhaps the files inside are secured...
