not google!

ok im sick of google! i cant stand the thought of every move i make on the net being tracked by a corporation, and the amount of blocked sites is ridiculous. iv used tor a bit but its really slow and not suitable for a stand alone browser.

so im wondering do any of you know a browser/search engine that wont track and sell your information. its not even like i do anything dubious on the net, im just sick of the censorship and constant tracking! even firefox dose it!!!

I've been using Bing but there's plenty more for you to use, of course.

From time to time I tend to go back for Google since it may have wider results than any of the other search engines.

Btw, if you want to continue using Google, just don't log in to your GoogleMail or whatever Google account.

i recently started using https://duckduckgo.com/
have a look... i think it is promissing.. but yeah from time to time i still check google to compare results...

unfortunatelly there is no real alternative to scholar.google.com so college is mainly the only thing that makes me need to use google =/

@r07f1 yeah iv been having a look at duckduckgo.
what are you studying because there are quite a few search engines/libraries that are dedicated to specific information. its one of the main things i use TOR for! i used to have a whole TXT doc of links to them but i lost the usb they were on and stupidly hadnt backed it up. but id defiantly recommend looking at some of the libraries on tor you'll find some crazy info.

and @fanboysarestupid i dont really see bing as much better its like saying which is better for your health pepsi or coke! it may be a lesser of the 2 evils but im not convinced

Resources are not the problem per say... the validity of those resources is what's important when we have to make articles/research or whatever and that is where gogle scholar exels since the search results it yelds have their sources/content validated....

It would be funny to write an article and in the bibliography refrerence some xXxXx.onion as the source :P

I hate google aswell and would love to find a site that does the same but not take my info. I dont even sync my contacts from my android to gmail because they take those aswell. One thing I did not know and am skeptical about, is that Mozzila takes your info aswell. They supposed to be a non profit organisation consisting of willing devs from all around the world. At least thats what they claim?

Use HTTPS everywhere, Ghostery, and AdBlock Plus they're all firefox icons, Ghostery even has a little notification where you can see which trackers/cookies/objects that would normally be tracking you are blocked. Use googlesharing to anonymize your search results while maintaining speed, or TrackMeNot to give google bogus search querys.
