A CFW Concept
Last night with all the news of a 4.21CFW only for 3.55 users I thought of something and I wanna share it..
Remember the Rogero v3.5 CFW PoC?? It showed how 3.60 keys could be added to a CFW signed with 3.55 keys. Of course, it wasn't entirely successful but could this be used.. The new 4.21CFW is supposedly a combo of 3.55CEX+4.21DEX. Can we use the 3.60 keys available and use them in a 3.60DEX to obtain the missing set?? The private keys. And in process a 3.60CFW (for 3K users) and so on. I know it's easier said than done but we do have a couple of LV2 exploits from naehwart and KDSBest, will those be of any help?? And wasn't that some old sony dev guy said something about the past.. What if we use these first two steps and the answer lies in his step 3.. Just a random thought which may or may not lead to anything but if someone can please give it a shot. What say?

Thats an interesting thought, but I dont think you can use the 3.60-3.61 key set we got to reverse anything on DEX... I could be wrong.
If the LV2 exploits come to fruition, it will benefit every PS3 upto 4.20-4.21 including the 3k series.

If private keys are not stored in the ps3 then what are?? Public keys?? And what keys do the PIC zone of a Blu-ray game contain?? IMO, all the information is inside the PS3 but just hard to find.

Private keys are kept in Sony's vault only, no one had access to it. Also what we can obtain is the Public keys only so we can decrypt and encrypt using this keys but not to sign any file with it. Since in higher firmwares we need a valid self/sprx signature to be able to verify and run any application/game and we can not do this signature because we missing the the private keys for this. If somehow anybody found this private keys then we could make a Higher CFW that be able to install in newer hardware like CECH-300X or CECH-400X consoles also. BTW: you does not need a private key to just decrypt an encrypted file and run it. So PlayStation 3 also does not need or have this keys, the FW only hold the Public keys to be able to decrypt this files and run it. |
