Hey all, currently my PS3 isn't jailbroken, and I plan on keeping it that way. I figured I'd get a used fatty one and jailbreak that instead.
Now my question is, and I've read some of the other threads and stickies, IF I were to be caught jailbreaking, what would the penalties be?

For instance, would they ban my console? My IP? Would it affect my other PS3 that isn't jailbroken? Or would I be banned from whatever game it was that I was modding?
I used to do scripting on IRC (yeaahh, good ole IRC) then grew out of it and after awhile of having a PS3, I kept wondering if there was any way I could mod my games. Just like on PS2 how there were cheat codes, with PS3, it was a bit different. After some time of paying attention to the whole GeoHot and PS3 keys and CFW stuff that was going on, I was a little bit interested. I never had a complete understanding though of what it meant to jailbreak your system, because I figured, "great, now there's gonna be a bunch of kids modding multiplayer games like Xbox..." but as time went on I couldn't help but to learn some more. My reasons for jailbreaking are just out of interest of what's going on inside my system, mod it to my liking (well.. learn about modding and then mod to my liking), and as far as games go, mainly single player missions, and co-op with friends.

i think they just will ban the console, so your other one will be fine...

Penalty's none-other then a console ban on PSN But that doesn't matter because its 3.55 and PSN will not be on it for much longer.
