You repack an existing retail update or You can use one the 3.55 DEX firmwares with peek/poke, like istkamel's. Those allow for retail updates to be installed on a DEX machine.

I repackaged the retail update and installed it fine, but as I thought the image on my HDD isn't whole, it's only about 1.1GB, so obviously I can't start the game.

So there was something wrong with my HDD. I'll just have to try with another one.

I use a usb pendrive 32GB. With one partition on it.
I formatted it with the ps3 itself (quick format)
This works for me. never got multiple partitions working.

This is freakin unbelievable i posted this an hour ago on iso only
to find out you have the same problem as me, only diffrence is
it does write to my hdd but the game wont be found by my ps3.

Yeah and I guess it's not just you and me, there must be other people still struggling with this...

I should get my hands on another HDD some day this week, so I'll try and see, maybe it'll confirm it's an HDD/hardware problem.
