PlayStation Plus - What will happen if it's discontinued on PS3?

Well, the first thing that will happen is the PS Plus users will receive a notice about the program being discontinued and then the games will eventually stop working when the day to shut down PS Plus comes.

It kinda sucks that they give you games each year but then when the membership expires POOF. Renew the membership or they won't work.

If $ony in the end of PS3's life and PS Plus were to allow the paid users to keep all games permanently I would definitely consider signing up for one year PS+.

if you pay even 1p for something on the ps+ deal you keep the game/content as well as any free game at subscription.

personally i think its worth it for the price considering you get the discounted prices on certain items and all the free games to play over a year.

i regularly spend the yearly subscription cost of ps+ on 1 game in the shops that i dont play again after a week so buying a game is less cost efficient to me.

The free games are the kind of the problem here, as they're more rental games because when the membership ends they end.

why would psn+ end?
you're missing the point, psn+ is a premium service, psn is free for OFW, psn+ is a premium service and the benefits of it are free games, early access to betas and stuff.
If you decide to stop having a premium service, the benefits will end, you'll only have whats available to "free" users.

Its the same as online hosts, you get a premium package/account and you get no waiting time, no download limits, more storage space, etc etc, if you decide to end your premium package/account do you expect to continue to have the benefits you had and the benefits of those who keep their premium packages? What would be the point of having a premium package then? Who would buy one?

They offer something in exchange for your money, and they will offer it and add more offers as long as you keep giving them money - renew subscription

For those that have been paying constantly $60 every year since PS Plus has started it would be reasonable to let them keep the games they downloaded instead of "These games no longer work. Thank you for being part of PlayStation Plus.".

Its only $50, $49.99 to be precise, I've been using it since it was first started, its well worth the money.

I didn't exactly checked the real price, but the regular retail price is $59.99 ($60) so it's the one I've used.

It's worth but knowing they will expire in a year unless the account's renewed really is a shame.
