Some questions about SELF

I have some serious questions.

Selfs are encrypted with AES, so symmetric crypto. So we need only one key. But in this case we have AES CBC, so we need also the Initialization Vector (IV).

Can the IV be calculated if we have the key? maybe with an already decrypted file (with the reverse process of encryption)?

If we want to decrypt a self we need only the Key and the IV (for PS3 "erk" and "riv").
Pub and Priv keys are for signing things and in particurarly are for ECDSA crypto.

HMAC is a integrity check, so is needed only for signing and read purposes.

This is why with the 3.60/3.61 keys we can only decrypt things, but no encryption. (we don't have the new ECDSA private key).

So, I want to know if all this infos are right, becouse I'm studying crypto from yesterday xD

you have plenty of info there. also, you could do it manually to check yourself for the keys. just use openssl with aes cbc mode and decrypt the first thing you can decrypt , which is what metldr loads, with the metldr key and iv
