Hello,

I recently bought a fat cech-L03 ps3 on the internet.
When i want to start up the ps3, it runs for like ~20 seconds and then shuts down into standby mode, without blinking lights etc. Also i don't have any sound or video.
The HDD light blinks twice (one at the begin, and one at the end of running)

- I tried to get into recovery mode several times, without any success
- I tried to apply new thermal paste, without success.
- I tried the HDD from my ps3 slim, without success

I read a couple of RLOD posts on the forum and tried the lv2diag.self fix because i thought it could be a software fault. When i put in my usb stick, i see the usb stick light flashes, it runs for like 17 seconds and shuts down into standby mode again.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and maybe know the solution?

thanks in advance.

No, i also bought it as broken, but i thought it would be a broken bluray or ylod, what is normally easy to fix. I bought it as a second ps3 to play backups on.
When i read the posts about RLOD it seemed very familiar to my problem.
I found a video on youtube with the same problem. But i know there are people here who know a lot more than on other forums.

Can anyone tell me if it's an YLOD or a software fault?

lol wow sorry @voodi for the bad info by this kid anyways its not ylod as ylod flashes "yellow" iv had the same problem its either the cpu or gpu thats not getting enough pressure i believe make sure the screws that hold the cpu and gpu in place are tight if those screws are tightened too tight they will not apply enough pressure you will ruin that screw and the hole itself you could try and rig it using the penny method since its just a spare ps3 good luck

Try and solder a wire from the nor tristate to a ground point on the motherboard. If the ps3 stays on with the wire soldered, you will know it is a problem with the flash.
If it doesn't stay on, it is a hardware issue somewhere, PSU, RSX, GPU, etc...
