So, LV0 keys have been released and all 3.55 cfw users are going crazy.
But how about CEHC-3xxx and 4xxxx owners?
I'm aware that without the private keys we can't sign a pup for the newer consoles, so a software solution seems unlikely.
But what about hardware downgrade (using a flasher) ? Downgrade from OFW4.25 to CFW4.21. Is this possible?
What is needed to make a software solution for CECH-3xxx? Is this only achiveable by finding a lv0 exploit? Or would a bootloader pwn do this.

Please don't just say read the wiki. I've read it. I can't find the answers there.

you need to be on 3.55 to install it. we were never on 3.55 so can not go down that far.

older ps3's have lv0 ( the recent keys are for this )
our consoles have lv0,2 ( no keys for this )
also i think there are extra checks in newer consoles

im pretty drunk ATM but there is info in the lv0 keys released thread that prolly makes more sennse than i do

Actually, I'm pretty sure you could install with flasher without downgrading to 3.55, but that still is only for consoles that can be downgraded to 3.55.

CECH-2500 that shipped with 3.60+ OFW (if it shipped with 3.56 you can install but flasher only, use MinVerChk to see which version if in doubt), and ALL CECH-3000 and CECH-4000 consoles use newer bootldr, metldr revision as well as a new lv0.2 file in order to prevent the boot of a modded lv0.

How about signing homebrew apps for OFW4.21 and run them on 3xxx? That should at least work, right?

and how exactly would you install them?

the only way a cfw for 3k will appear is if an exploit for it is found. our models and their models are different. their lv0 keys do not apply to us so we are in exactly the same position we were always in

If LV0.2 keys surfaced, would it still be up in the air for 3k/4k ps3's, because of other layers of security? or would it mean CFW for them too?

I understand it wouldnt be as simple as modifying 4.x FW with LV0.2 keys and installing through recovery because of checks implemented after 3.56, so is an exploit the only way?

By using Kakaroto's hack to run pkgs (that is if he share his method). IIRC his method was able to install pkgs but not sign them. Now he can sign them too.
