Look at it this way, if Sony would provide me directly with a copy of the same game, without renewal issues (requiring PS Store) and without worrying about wear, I'd gladly accept it.
But why should I have to suffer their consequences? I didn't hold a gun to Sony's head and force them to use a media that can cause so many problems. Yet, I'm stuck having for fork out again for another laser, which can die again before I'm tired of playing with my console, besides being stuck between the 2 things I love (Linux and new games). I've got multiple copies of the same game over every platform (GTA 4) so I'm far from a pirate, but when I pay full price for something, I expect full service. Like, when they forced a decision on me, by removing my rights to access something that persuaded me to buy their device over their competitors device. I didn't have much of a choice, when presents being bought for me were un-playable or a series of games that I've always bought are now going to cost an extra couple hundred to play (2nd PS3). <- That is not the deal I agreed to when I handed over my cash.. Now, I think your nit-picking is related to this specific site and it's anti-piracy stance, well I've just told you the "use". ![]() I'm done. EDIT: @hello345 : You'll be delighted to hear another laser of mine just went now (30th Oct.).. Another proper F*CK YOU SONY, YOU TIGHT ARSEHOLES!!!

@Mistawes
To be fair, every storage media can break, even harddrives. Some storage media might be more robust in general compared to another storage media of course, but there is a problem that these things can break very randomly. Someones they can last for 20 years, other times they can last for two week. For example, i had a 500GB harddrive dying on me about 6 months after i bought it (it started to make clicking noises and now the BIOS can't even detect it). While the harddrive in my ~20 year old 486 PC still works fine to this date
I've had lasers die on me as well, but this is also randomly, my 486 PC has a 2X CD-ROM that still works as far as i know =) But it always sucks when something like this break, that is true.Yeah, the OtherOS situation sucked big time for those who wanted to keep it. I understand the views in that situation. Fair enough, eventhough that these are piracy releases, there are some legit use to it, i agree to that ![]() EDIT: @Mistawes Sorry to hear that. How are Ireland regarding warranty? In my country we got 5 year "warranty" (i don't know the english word for it). It means that if something is expected to last for 5 years, we get free repair or replacement. A laser is one of those things that are suppose to last for 5 years. Many years ago, my DVD player started acting up after about 3 years of usage and i got a new one with no extra charge. Last edited by hello345; 10-30-2012 at 04:37 PM. |
