Not really, they already planned that. They already planned the PS4 when geohot and fail0verflow hacked it for the first time. The PS3 was done for that day.

Anyway the guy who really needs fame and compliments is the one who leaked the lv0 keys. He's the real hero, he saved the scene. The devs who actually found the lv0 keys and didn't want to share it like they said in that anonymous post: FAWK YOU. Those are the guys who really hurt the scene.

The section where it says that current firmwares are still signed; I've been wondering why it wasn't possible to switch to 4.21 cfw without cfw already, and that explained it quite well. Too bad I jumped the shark and updated back when the PS3 scene became stagnant for a while (before the EBOOTs for newer games started being released).

Not really. I think the conversation was something like:

Leaker: Nice we got lv0 keys, the scene will improve!
StupidDev: NO! this will never see the light of day. Let's make modchips and sell it to all consoles even CECH-3xxx and CECH-4xxx
Leaker: What about the scene?
StupidDev: FAWK THE SCENE. Do they feed you? Do you have your plate in your table every day because of them?
Leaker: No... but we actually got some benefit from them. They shared knowledge we used for this, and we even used the wiki...
StupidDev: FAWK THE WIKI... Ok let's do something, let's release the 3.60 keys and we give something back, what do you think?
Leaker: I don't think that's enough...

3 months later Leaker didn't really agree this scheme to monetize the new findings and leaked everything.

He's a hero in my book.

To those trying to, or thinking of making hardware to make cash... I just want to say I have not bought any , nor will I ever (well maybe a flasher incase of brick) my PS3 is still at 3.41 with a free dongle on breadboard and here it will stay until such a time that something free and better comes along.
