Very lost
Sorry to have to make a topic but i've read through all kinds of stuff and can't seem to find out my best approach. I've seen stuff all over the place about CFW 4.21 etc and I have a PS3 Model #cecgp01 and I got it back in 11/08. Its currently on 4.2 OFW and I'm not sure if i should be looking into upgrading to 4.21 and the CFW or if i have to go through flashing etc. please help?

Obviously i've seen that option several times.
I've also seen upgrading to 4.21 several times. I've also seen flashing as posted for an option several times. Never one more then the other. So which way to go has been utterly confusing with all the information thats floating around. |

As said you have to downgrade to 3.55 first, so you will need to buy a flasher.
Then, since you have a flasher now, you can install whatever you want, cos if it goes wrong you now have a flasher to fix it; assuming you make a nor/nand backup before you start. Of course if instead you buy a second hackable and on 3.55 ps3 console, come back next week and we'll have a better idea if the 4.21 cfw is stable for everyone to use. Again, you need to be on 3.55, obviously not read all kinds of stuff to not know that.
