the expensiveness of the original game discs is the main problem in my country, so we buy an "alternatif" machine which is more expensive than its original to play games on PS2/PS3 cheaper in the future. If Sony can fix this issue, I'm sure they will double their income since we are a very big country after China, India and USA.

8 gigs is plenty..If any of you have 8 gigs on a high end computer youll notice your computer hardly uses any of it, look at the PS3 now it has 256 ram for video and 256 for system not even a full gig which is the reason games like Skyrim run so ****ty on PS3 and not on xbox 360 cause its 512 is fully dedicated to the video.

Exactly, I have 8gb ram on my 5 month old gaming PC and NO games really use more than 4gb. Planetside 2 is most likely one of the only games that even benefits from 8gb vs 4, well all games will benefit from more ram, but yeah.

Next gen would be nice to have 8gb ram in, I know the Durango dev kits were 8gb and 12gb I think, so seems to me like the systems are gonna use at least 4gb, but I sure in the hell hope they both use 8gb standard.

Sony buys in bulk. Huge bulk. Having a buying incentive over the competition is a good thing.

256gb is an odd number for a hard drive, but not an ssd.

Final retail unit specs are probably not finalized yet though.

hmm, let me say it this way : I am sure Sony finds a way to **** up this console as well, as they did in the past. And no innovation either, very sad. It seems the times of good CPU´s are over, some souped up AMD CPU or APU ? Gimme a break :-(

8Gb is not terrible, but since it's a Dev kit they have double the amout of ram so they can keep debuger software in ram as well as other code. so 8Gb ould mean 4Gb for retail, or 16Gb would mean 8Gb at retail. as for 256Gb SSD, prices are tumbling monthly, so it may be possible by launch of Xmas 2013 or it could be Flash ram storage. Also Sony will buy at wholesale prices as they be buying millions at a time.

Also consoles don't use bloated OSes like PC's. 8Gb would be plenty.

I hope this time around they allow the legit users to have the option of installing all games' data to the HDD because Blu-ray was too slow on PS3.

Only permitting some and not all isn't ideal nor good since Blu-ray is freaking slow.

the ability to store games on hdd should be mandatory for them to allow it although
that would remove the need of modding the system to "back up games to save the disc/laser" meaning they would have more power against hackers and pirates (sadly) as that very common excuse would no longer be valid.

its a double edged sword though because it will be good and bad for us in that respect

PS3 Blu-ray was a 1st gen drive only 2x, also a myth to say PS3 Blu-ray's slow, it's compareable to a 8x 360 drive runing DVD Double Layer games(only Single Layer DVD is 12x). BTW most 360 games come on Double Layer DVD now.

Blu-ray drives are on the 4th gen and are way faster than DVD now. So there is no reason Sony could'nt put a 2nd 3rd gen drive 6x/8x or 12x, prices have dropped also.

But in comparison, Marty, Xbox 360 allows any game data to be installed on the HDD which makes the DVD disc only usable as a certification that the user owns the genuine game.

Running the game's from the HDD made gaming a whole lot better and faster. It's a shame I couldn't get the same from my PS3.
