Hi everyone,
I bought today a ps3 cech2004A and i want to install a cfw but i am not sure if i would be able to play the newest games with any 3.55cfw, do i need to convert to cex, if which tutorial should i follow. Thank you very much

your ps3 is allready in cex , maybe you mean dex.

you do know you need a hardware flasher to get back to 3.55?

and you need to look up if 3.55 can be installed on your ps3 , because you can't go lower then the factory firmware that the ps3 came with..

I have 3.55 Ofw, from where do i know if i have cex or dex mode? And if I have cex which firmware should I install? Thank you

@llokatromd do you know if your ps3 is downgraded before?, if so it can be dangerous to install any firmware right away.

i don't know all the details, but it has something to do with de-hashing the system...lol

I dont know if it has been downgraded but I just installed kmeaw 3.55 and its working fine. I still dont know if I have cex or dex?

If you are on 3.55 KMEAW you are on CEX. In theory you are set to play all the games present, but you will have to make sure you use eboots resigned to 3.55 for games which require firmwares 3.60 and above.

then you have cex (consumer firmware) , dex =(debug/test firmware)

most people would advice to do this from 3.55 OFW , but like i said if your ps3 was downgraded before to 3.55 it can be a risk, if not then it's safe to install...

but what is the benefit anyway, why are you in such a rush, 3.55 kmeaw can also play the latest games...
