Hey guys and gurls. I've a phat 60gb ps3 with 4.20 FW installed on it. I saw some posts on the web that said that it's safe to install the 4.30 CFW right away, but here it says that I must downgrade.

So I've got two questions:

1. Is it possible for me to go from OFW 4.20 to CFW 4.30 without downgrading?
2. Is it possible for me to downgrade from OFW 4.20?
3. Why isn't it possible to go from 4.xx OFW to CFW without a downgrade?

Sorry about the noobish attitude, but I've been off the scene for almost two years.

1: NO
2: YES. You have a NAND PHAT, progskeet/teensy++ should do it.
3: Because we cant sign update pups to be installed. We have keys to decrypt, but not sign. We also dont have HMAC keys. And sony blocked modified pups being installed on FW higher than 3.55/3.56, so 3.55 is necessity.
4: Thats THREE questions.
