Hey I bought a second hand ps3 the phat one which came on 4.31. I'm kind of new to all this job&cfw. I'm trying to jail brake it or install a cfw I've searches Google for my 4.31 and from what I see there isn't one ( or most links are fake on Google ) could someone give me information about this? A) is there a jailbreak for 4.31. B) if not Is there one in the works & were could I go to look for updates about this. C) is there anyway to downgrade my 4.31 to 3.55?. Thanks any help appreciated. ( sorry if posted in wrong place )

You should buy an E3 flasher or progskeet(google it) to downgrade your 4.31 phat...

Phat usually = NAND, so the OP should definitely look for a NAND flasher, although he should first confirm his model though by googling ps3devwiki SKU's.
